Computing & Hybrid Infrastructure
SERVICE ENGINEERING GUIDE
Build a platform around the workloads it must run. We translate application dependencies, recovery objectives and growth into compute, storage, virtualisation and backup work packages, with migration and recovery evidence your operations team can use.
What we deliver in practice
Compute & virtualisation
Size CPU, memory and host capacity against measured workloads. Install hypervisors, management services and clustered resources, with separation between management, migration and application networks.
Host build sheets and resource allocation baseline.
Storage & data paths
Assess block, file and object requirements. Configure storage pools, access permissions and redundant paths; align capacity, latency and retention with the workload rather than advertised peak performance.
Volume map, access matrix and performance baseline.
Backup & recoverability
Configure protection policies and isolated recovery access where supported. Test file, VM and application restoration against agreed recovery-point and recovery-time objectives; record dependencies and unsuccessful scenarios.
Restore evidence and a sequenced recovery runbook.
Hybrid migration
Map applications into migration waves; validate identity, connectivity, DNS and backup before cutover. Rehearse a representative workload and use a decision gate for rollback.
Wave plan, cutover checklist and operational handover.
The technology, explained
Virtualisation / HCI
Virtualisation runs isolated workloads on shared hosts. Hyperconverged infrastructure combines compute and software-defined storage; design choices depend on workload and platform support.
High availability
Redundant components reduce some interruption risks. Their failure domains, spare capacity and recovery behaviour must be tested; redundancy is not the same as backup.
RPO / RTO
RPO expresses the tolerated recovery-point data loss; RTO expresses the target time to restore service. Both are agreed business objectives and must be tested.
Reference architectures & design practices
Illustrative patterns for project discussions. Final topology, sizing, products and acceptance criteria are developed against your requirements. These are BrightGate concept diagrams, not vendor-certified designs.
Clustered compute with protected recovery+
On smaller screens, scroll the diagram sideways to see all components.
Application workloads run on a sized cluster with storage appropriate to the selected architecture. Backups follow a separate protection path. High availability, replication and backup solve different problems; a cluster alone does not prove recoverability.
Design practices to apply
- Reserve capacity for the agreed failure scenario.
- Keep backup administration separate where feasible.
- Validate recovery in a controlled environment.
Systems, products & official references
Examples to evaluate during scoping. Selection, supported features, hardware and licences depend on the agreed solution; a product mention does not imply a certification or an included purchase.
